It's Storytime!
Jude Thompson is an author of children’s books, fantasy, fiction, and memoir. She has created the pictures in her children’s books using her own aerial and nature photography and designs her own book covers. A message is woven into her stories, and she has a particular love of mice and motorbikes.
A great lover of nature and wild places, Jude grew up on a farm in Oxfordshire, England. She has also lived for a number of years in both Canada and France. She now lives ‘on the edge’ on the wild north-west coastline of the Isle of Lewis, gazing across the Atlantic in its many shades of denim. Winter storms bring eighty-mile-an-hour winds and horizontal rain to batter the house while the flames from the coal fire burn warm and bright. A writer’s haven where imagination is free to roam.
Jude’s memoir paints the free and restless spirit that has accompanied her throughout her life, alongside being an incurable romantic. It follows her journey from the age of twenty-two, when she travelled to Canada to fifty-six, when she ran off to France with a biker. Relationships have woven great highs and lows throughout her life, the end of a relationship often meaning a big move geographically. Her working life has been a variety of numerous and rarely long-lasting jobs. Now, retired to the Islands, she has a deep feeling of having come home.
More recently while walking her favourite beach she found something rare, which sparked an idea for a new novel – a unique story with a strong Scottish flavour.
